Weldricks Pharmacy is a privately owned independent pharmacy group with 61 outlets situated right at the heart of many local communities in the South Yorkshire region. In January 1999, H. I. Weldrick Ltd commissioned Fidelity to embark on a joint project to develop an EPoS system specifically tailored to the needs of the groups own shops.
Working closely with David Vanns, Weldricks Operations Director, Fidelity designed and implemented a suite of reports and functions to suit the needs and requirements that are associated with the running of a successful pharmacy. This business logic was then incorporated into Fidelitys back office sales and profit management solution ‐ Total Control, forming the backbone to the joint project at Head office. To provide Head office with vital financial outlet data, Fidelity initially installed conventional cash registers at the point of sale.
Over time however, the needs of the business grew in such a way that it became apparent that a more flexible POS solution was needed. So Weldricks were introduced to Fidelity General PoS (or G‐PoS).
G‐PoS is a flexible touch screen point of sale solution based on industry standards for PC‐PoS, that is easily configured to suit all trades. "Screen layout and configuration is made easy by an intuitive utility program that is provided with G‐PoS". Jackie Steel, Weldricks Operations Manager, was able to create bespoke screen layouts designed to be user friendly and fast to navigate in a busy retail environment.
Weldricks were also able to take advantage of G‐PoS's more advanced features, such as complex and timed multi‐buys, and operator 'up‐sell' and 'Proof of age' prompts. In total, 63 new touch screens with G‐PoS installed replaced the existing cash registers with minimal disruption to the Outlet and Head office. Now into a second decade of working with Fidelity, Weldricks are running the latest version of Fidelitys back office solution; Total Control Premier, and the pharmacy group benefit from being able to see sales stream in to head office in 'real‐time' from each of the 61 outlets.
This updated solution provides a SQL based data store giving a finer grain of detail right down to transaction line level, and offers an array of ways to report on data including 'live dashboards'. Additionally, Weldricks also utilise Fidelity Instant Loyalty to control their own Loyalty card scheme, and with the two products combined, is able to monitor the live spending habits of customers, and market accordingly.
